He is a great guy at least I think he is. He is sweet, funny, and has a great personality, but i live in the south and most people think that if he doesnt fix cars, watch nascar and wrestling, dip tobacco, or drink beer. there is something wrong with him. He treats me better the any person has ever treated me. He is my best friend in the world. He is very intelligent kind of a nerd you could say. He does care about material things, if we had nothing but bologna to eat it would be fine with him. I am really tired of my family trying to break us up, he has ask me to marry him and i plan marrying him. It is very strange to go to family functions very one is quite, and they dont treat as if he belongs there. I dont want to lose my family and I almost feel as if i have to chose between them. Any one have any suggestions??

Move away. Seriously- why should he have to put up with this abuse from your family for the rest of his life?

If you love your fiance and you feel he is the right man for you then forget what everyone else thinks. Yes, it is hard to deal with family and friends treating him like he's weird or out of place. The same thing happens to people of a different religion, race and sex for that matter. I live in California and a man like yours is cherished. Don't give him up they're the best and very devoted. He doesn't need to do such male dominated things to be a man. You're going to be with your mate forever, maybe even have a family of your own. He is the one you'll see everyday and be best friends with. He is what matters, if the others don't accept him that is their loss and they are shallow. Good luck to you and you're lucky to have him..

well i think that you should let them know that even though they dont do the things they want him to he is still a good guy. that he treats you with the respect that you need and want and that should be enough. if you wanna act this way then maybe i shouldnt visit or talk to you guys anymore because whether or not you dont like him i am still gonna be with him and still love him very much. try saying things like that and see if they come to thier senses. or you can invite them to dinner. have your fiance cook or if he cant cook then you can cook the meal and sit them down and let them get to know your fiance. if they already talked to him and dont like him then maybe you should stop talking to them for a while and see how they like it. giving your fiance the cold shoulder like that is kind of rude. so see if this works.

my family didn't like my husband at first, but i told them that no matter what they thought of him i would still marry him. and that maybe they should get to know him better then things might change. he spent a weekend with my parents while i was gone on a trip and when i got back they where all cracking jokes at each other and laughing. dont let your family decide for you, if you love him do it. but if you have any second thoughts, (with out their input of cource) dont. you could try having your parents over for dinner and playing a game after, a game where you really have to get involved. like Cranium.

there has to be another reason why they don't like him besides the fact that he doesn't watch nascar and drink beer. You need to have a heart to heart with your family and address their concerns.

Who cares what other people think, if you both love each other and really want to be married then screw them. If they say it is a bad choice, etc. Tell them its what you want, and they should be happy for you. If they still aren''t then I once again say, Screw Them.

ok you cant force people to like your fiance.. just because you do!!!
people will form their own opinons just like you do!!

if your family dont except him.. is he really the man for you!!
if your in love with the right guy .. people will see this.. see that your happy and instantly accept him!!! you should never have to make people like your fiance!!!
