You can get a nutritious diet - even if you are only eating 1200 to 1400 calories. It won't leave room for hardly any junk food/empty calories - but it will work. The way you lose weight is by eating less calories than you are burning everyday. It's science - and it works everytime.

It really helps to write down EVERYTHING you eat and drink - and write down the calories of everything. Add the calories up as the day goes by - and when you get to 1400 - stop. You'll learn to spread them out throughout the day. 6 smaller meals is better than 3 larger ones - but do what works with your lifestyle. You'll want to reduce the caloric intake as you lose. Start with 1400 and once you've lost 20 pounds or so - reduce it to 1200. Make sure you are getting grains, fruits, vegetables, protein, and fat. Less than 1/3 of your caloric intake each day should be from fat calories. Also - DRINK WATER. At least 5 - 6 glasses a day. And if you are exercising - that is GREAT! Good luck!

What are those 1800 calories made up of?? Make sure you are getting the right, healthy foods. Don't starve yourself or make extreme changes in your diet right away; that is a sure way to fail. Try to make one goal a week to gradually change your habits. For example: one week you could walk to work and/or school, the next you can concentrate on cutting out your daily latte or mocha. Work on one thing at a time so it won't be such a shock to your system. I would also suggest adding weights to your workout routine, that seems to help some people.

Even if you restrict your calorie intake, the foods you are eating may still be preventing you from being able to lose weight. For instance "low fat" foods tend to be high in simple carbs. So you are eating less fat but consuming more carbs, and any excess will be turned to fat. You need to eat healthy, whole foods. Typically anything that is found on the outside perimeter of the grocery store. You need to have enough fibre to keep you feeling full and to help in eliminating toxins etc. You need to have enough protein to help you feel full and to build your muscles. You need complex carbs (multigrains, brown rice, slow cooking oats) and you need fruits (in moderation) and veggies (best to reduce the amount of a carrots, corn and potatoes because they turn to sugar more quickly). And you need to be drinking plenty of water (2-3 litres).

Maybe do the research on foods that have a lower Glycemic Index. These are foods that your body takes longer to digest so you stay full longer and you don't get the fluctuations in blood sugar. Make sure you eat breakfast (eg. scrambled egg whites with salsa and spinach with some fruit or high fibre , low sugar cereal with skim milk and fruit). The research on this diet shows that even when people are consuming the same amount of calories, if they are eating lower GI foods they lose more weight then people eating other types of food.

If you try this and you are still not able to lose weight (or even now) I would get checked out by the doctor for low thyroid etc.

Your off to a good start. I think you need to start A) increase the time of your workoutt or B) increase the intensity/variety of our workou. I lost 30 lbs using workout videos(light cardio), but I also added jogging( med/heavy cardio) at the gym and park for 30-60 min and that really melted the fat off. Also portion control your meal, use a food journal to keep you in check and for you to really see what you are eating and how many calories your eating. You also have a realistic time line which will help you so much in getting in shape. You will lose the the weight. Good luck.

Have you had your thyroid checked? I would try excerising 4-5 times a week for at least 60 mins or more, also swimming is good too. Then try eating low fat high protein foods less than 1200 calories a day. Eat a good breakfast (high in protein) then excerise, then eat fresh fruit after excerising to get blood sugar back up, 2 hrs later have some protein for lunch , then have a healthy snack then at dinner time have a protein and vegtables... Eventually you'll lose it i did. Good luck to ya.

you need to burn at least 3500 calories per week in in order to lose 1 pound per week. So you can aim to cut 250 calories from your diet and burn 250 calories by exercise. Or burn 500 calories per day by exercise.. If this isn't workingcheck with you doctor about your thyroid

Eat more vegetables. You should be losing like crazy... are you sure you're only getting 1800? Maybe you should try 1600. I lost 30 pounds in two months eating mostly vegetables. Never went hungry either.
