I am short sighted and its getting worse, is it possible that it gets so bad that i become blind or nearly blind? Does it continue to get worse or does it stop (before blindness)?

I am 18 and have -400 i think in my worst eye and i think thats quite bad, whats the lowest number on the scale? I can't really help it because i play computer games quite alot in my spare time and the rest of the time i am doing school work, like reading etc which is unavoidable? If i were to get laser treatment will my short sightedness come back?

what are your eyesight numbers? you should not worry about it, its a natural course of life that our eyes will age. but that doesnt mean you take it for granted. watch less tv or none at all(trust me its not too difficult) and cut down on computer games (thats if you play them). also dont stay on the computer for too long. give your eyes a rest every hour or so.

wearing contacts or glasses is not always an advantage, because my eyesight was not bad a few years ago when i did not wear glasses or contact lenses. your eyes adapt to the eyesight number of the glasses e.g. -4.00.
check with your optometrist. you might only need glasses for reading or driving.

Yeah you can get blind from bad eyesight if you encourage it. Like playing on computers, Gameboys, Reading, Writing, Drawing and especially tv. Not that any of those are bad, but too much of it and not wearing the proper prescribed glasses can worsen the problem .o.0 Or so I've been told.

Go and get a second eye test to test for degenerative eye conditions.

I did not appreciate that high blood pressure and high cholestroll levels play a major role increasing bad eye sight.

Though you are short sighted it could be that what I have mentioned is contributing to your worstening eye sight. And is nothing to do with you being short sighted.

I am now waiting to see an eye specialist. Thank goodness for eye tests.

There are many reasons for failing eyesight, some are very treatable, some are not.

You need to get a check-up and a diagnosis for whatever is causing your problems, so that any treatment can be started as quickly as possible.

No you wont go blind from shortsightedness but if as I suspect you are under about 25, it may be possible to 'cure' you by wearing orthoK lenses, which reshape your eyeball back to normal, not many people know about these lenses, I suggest you look into it

That happens to everyone. A few years ago my eyes were -150, and now their -400. so they'll get worse, but you won't go blind. I wouldn't worry about it too too much.
