My pathetic rebuke will not be as pathetic as your lack of knowledge of the Bible and Church history. And, I don't have the time to teach you. The Gospel of Peter was refused because it wasn't written by Peter. It was written about 100 years after Peter's death. It was and attempt to refute Jewish thinking. Simply, it was not authoritative as were Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Also, the Roman church did not edit the New Testament. The New Testament began being compiled at the Council of Nicea in , what is today, Western Turkey in A.D.325. Do your homework before you speak......

Yeah, there were several problems with the "gospel" of St Peter. First of all, there was absolutely NO proof for when it was written. Secondly, it had a TALKING CROSS! Hello, a TALKING CROSS! I don't think I even need to go on from there. A TALKING CROSS!
Do you HONESTLY think that a story which is SUPPOSED to be true, can be considered reliable if it has a TALKING CROSS in it?
And actually, the "gospel" of St Peter was written MUCH later than the other Gospels (note the differentiation between "gospel" and Gospel!), and IT even acknowledges that Jesus died.
I think you need to do more research.
LOL a TALKING CROSS!
At least the story of Balaam and his donkey made more sense than that. A talking cross...lol lol lol.

That's funny because the Roman Centurion, an experienced and authoritative soldier, used to death and identifying death, commissioned with the precise job of making sure that He died, testified of His death on pain of his own life if he were wrong.
Pilate, the Roman Governor ascertained that He was dead and even marvelled that He had died so quickly.
Apart from the lashing with the metal spiked "cat o' nine tails," and the crucifixion, He was thrust through with a spear to make sure He was dead.
The Scriptures prophesied thousands of years before of His death by Crucifixion, even before Crucifixion was invented, and the whole plan of God right from the beginning was that Christ should die. This is portrayed right through the whole Old Testament. He Himself taught that He would die and be raised up.
But you appear to be claiming that the Roman Empire got their job completely wrong, the Scriptures were all completely wrong, Christ was completely wrong and over 500 eye witnesses were completely wrong according to a manuscript written some 100 years after the event by an unknown person pretending to be Peter.
Wow !
I've heard of blind faith but now I know what it is.

Other apocryphal Gospels, suggest Jesus was , married, vengeful, an advocate of armed revolt, a mystic of non-christian training. Any remnants of the true historical Jesus were systematically expunged from the literature to conform to the `word`. This message was "assembled" into book form after more alterations than any book in recorded history. After all this, it was declared the "truth", by the very same liars who invented it!

I would love to see exactly what you are referencing and where you got this information.
That said, the book of Peter is in the Bible in case you haven't looked. Who cares what the Catholic church says? They are pretty famous for picking and choosing what they want to add and take away from the Bible. That's one reason Christians have issues with the Catholic church.
God has just as much power to work through the translators of the Bible as He did working through the original writers of the Bible. He is not going to give up His Son to die for us and leave us without and "instruction book" on what to do with that gift. To do that would mean His Son died in vain. God makes sure that we find Him through His Word.
It really doesn't matter what you or anyone else chooses to say or believe about our faith. At least we have a hope and a life and an eternal life to look forward to instead of.......nothing. Now THAT would be pathetic!

The four gospels were not written by the apostles.
They were written close to the end of the first century long after the apostles were dead and gone. The john who wrote revelations was not the apostle john. He was a poor man kept in prison so long that he simply lost his mind and started to imagine a vengeful God who would punish his captors and anyone like them.
The bible was created 2 centurys later by the roman empire to change the message of Jesus to something that the Romans found more acceptable.
This is why it is often difficult to understand. The message of Jesus on the other hand is elegant and simple to understand. You need to separate the message that Jesus left for us from all of the nonsense that the Romans overlaid it with and it will start to become quite easy to understand.
Don't take my word for any of this. Study biblical history for your self and draw your own conclusions. There are many good books on this subject by some intelligent and thoughtful people. Take advantage of their efforts.
Email if you are interested and I will send so suggested reading material.
Love and blessings.
Don

All of those so called gospels were written over 200 years after Jesus died and didn't relate truthfully to the earlier books.

That may well be true and there are many of us who have the naghamadi library and acccept that there are some corruptions and bad vibrational vibes within all that MAN has become involved with - this certainly applies to the attitude you seem to have within your question towards you fellow man!
By stereotyping you create bad karma around you which comes back to you ten fold!

Peter never wrote a gospel. It was forged.
The Catholic Church is a false Church with a false gospel that does not go with what the Bible says.
Peter wrote in the New Testament and said time and time again that Jesus died for our sins.

I´m sure you are very sincere in your opinions and I respect that. You are researching, you are studying.
Don H´s answer was very good. I suggest you write him to exchange some ideas.
If you think you are such an scholar, go deep in your studies of the first writers of the New Testament!
But... there is another way to discover the truth, without using the Bible that you seem to despise.
Talk to God, even if you do not believe in His existence. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
Well, if He exists, if He cares and if He loves you, He will!
In my case, it occurred.
