Usually they get fidgety and start sniffing around for a place to go. It's not very hard to try to train them. Try to take him outside every 1 or 2 hours on a leash. take him where you want him to go then say "go potty" or something like that over and over until he goes, if he doesn't go in about 5 minutes or so take him back inside and wait a little while then try again. When he does finally go make sure to praise him, make a big deal out of it and give him a treat. That way he'll start to learn what the command “go potty” means and that by going there he'll get rewarded.
It also helps to feed him at the same times each day, that way you can get an idea of about how long after eating he’ll need to go to the bathroom. Also take him out right after he wakes up from naps.

Sniffs the floor and walks around in circles. Whines. Usually they have to go out first thing when they wake up, finish playing and after each meal. Good Luck with your potty training.

Small dogs like ur dachshund must go out at least every hour. Especially after naps, eating or playing. It may seem a bit much but you cannot let a small puppy as your's be uncomfortable.

Well to an easy way to train him is to let him out at least once every hour. another way to have him let u know is to hang a bell at his level and everytime you take him out ring the bell. then after about a week of that take his paw and ring it for him. eventually he will connect the bell with going outside and he will ring it himself

They start to wander and go places they usually don't. A lot of sniffing around is also a good sign.

They'll usually bark at the door where you'd let him out. Like the front or back.
