AVG = not very good rate of detection
AVAST= little hard to use and use up lot of resources on your pc
Use AVIRA, it's also free, easy to use and it has none of the flaw of the others two:

I enjoy trying out different security applications (despite the headaches that can bring).
So my choice would be the one I am trial-ing out at the moment (my 57th) Avast Anti spy Pro..60 day free trial.
It has got to be without doubt THE best that I have used to date and I may well end up using it permanently.
Hope this helps you to decide...

I am going with trend micro cause the guy used to program for windows. He quit to write trend-micro and microsoft got pissed and sued him out of the country. He had been in japan and everyother place in the world domminating the anti-virus arena and gets to come play in America in 2007 again. His anti-virus is in everything outside of the U.S. and will soon be here get on board.

i presume you need anti-virus as you intend to put all 4 computers on the internet,so a free anti-virus and free anti-spyware would be your best bet
for your anti-virus avast 4.7(avalible from http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html) is a good free anti-virus and is easy to install and set up,it has good all round protection and updates daily,i use this and i find it a good peice of security software,as it takes up very little memory unlike some anti-virus programs
as for your spyware protection spybot(avalible from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html) is a brilliant free anti-spyware program that cleans and protects from future attack by using a built in imunization feature,it blocks bad sites in internet explorer
combine spybot with adaware(avalible from http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5)and this will complete a good security package,i also use windows defender which is a free windows download(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en)providing you are running genuine windows products, defender is a good product as it sits idle on your desktop but is allways looking out for malware and when found will take the appropriate action
so if you download(use links provided) and install these programs i can promise you that all your laptops and desktops will be secure and protected while on-line,i should know ,i use them and i havent had a problem(severe) in years now
any problems with these let me know
good luck

look on http://www.zdnet.co.uk under downloads for av.
make sure u choose a free service and not a trial one, unless u dont mind paying.
My advice is just avoid Norton completely if you can!
I have nothing but problems with Norton!
