96 Volvo 850 GLT would not start only heard electrical noise, radio and lights went on?

Took key out hit lock/unlock on remote entry turned off radio. car started and it continues to start. Any ideas?

You may have an anti-theft problem. Some cars are equipped with a anti-theft relay that locks out the ignition in the event of column key being punched, and in the case of Chevy's, the way to de-arm and re-arm the system is to lock and unlock the door with either a micro chipped key or by using the remote door lock/unlock. The dealer will be able to read any faults reported to the ECU and this will help diagnose the problem.
