It may be a sign of an allergic reaction to the medication. I would suggest not taking any others until you can talk to your pharmacist or your doctor to confirm if this is so. Then, have the doctor prescribe a different form of medication. I had the same thing; quit taking it and was fine within 12 hours.

Yes codeine can make you itchy. See below.
What are the possible side effects of codeine?
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take codeine and talk to your doctor if you experience
· constipation;
· dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, or decreased appetite;
· dizziness, tiredness, or lightheadedness;
· muscle twitches;
· sweating;
· itching;
· decreased urination; or
· decreased sex drive.

Yes. This is an allergic reaction. Most of the time it is not bothersome and it goes away. If your 'itchiness' or pruritus as it is really called does not go away, you need to take some Benadryl. Can be bought at any supermarket or drug store.

As you know, one of the side effects of ANY opiate is itching. You may want to ask your doc to prescribe Vicodin or Fentanyl, instead.

yes, codiene can make you itch if you have a mild allergy to it. Benadryl should help. Don't drive if you take either one.
