Say if you had 100% ownership over the Holy Grail, or something really one of a kind and priceless from the time of Jesus and you decided to destroy it for no reason, would you be charged with any crime?

It is hard to see how a person could have 100% ownership of the holy grail or shroud of turin. But if by chance you could prove ownership and you weren't destroying it for insurance purposes, I guess you could do what you wanted with it, it would be your loss.

Can you be charged with a crime for destroying ANYTHING (inanimate) that you personally own? Of course you cant. Steve Jobs just put his fist through a painting worth millions of dollars....he wont be arrested. Although maybe he should be...

I doubt it...seeing you had 100% ownership.
but then again there would be alot of really pissed off people who would make your life miserable.
not only religious zealots but archaeologists and historians would probably hire someone to kill you.
but as far as legality goes...not unless you had it insured for an outrageous amount of money...which you probably would seeing it's a priceless artifact...so you probably would go to prison for insurance fraud.

Nobody can go to prison for destroying their own property, but that is why valuable artifacts are in museums: so everybody can benefit by them.
