I really like this guy but I don't know how to get to know him better or if he even knows I still exist.?

I still like him for some reason. The reason I say I don't know if he knows I still exist is because he used to say hi to me in stuff in the hallways @ the end of 7th grade like maybe he liked me or something. You see in 8th grade I had to go to different school. Now we both go to the same high school. But that was over a year ago so he probaly forgot about me and then moved on. I still like him though. What do I do? He isn't in any of my classes this year. How can I let him know I like him without freaking him out? I don't think he has a gf. What can I do to let him know I like him? He is always with his friends in the morning, afternoons,&lunch. I want to tell him myself but I don't how. I'm shy please help. What can I do that's not writing a note&putting it in his locker or telling one of his guy friends I think he is cute? I have tried smileing and making eye contact at him but I don't think he sees me. Any suggestion please? I really would apprecate it

You're right about not writing letters and kiddie stuff like that. Just go talk to him and ask how he's been doing. maybe ask what he's been up to lately. Communicate...that's a must.
