My friend is suppose to go the hospital tomorrow to begin dialises but is now refusing to go. What he said to me was
that once he was on it he would only live no more than two years. Frankly I don't believe it but I need to know for sure. I question his excuse because this is not the first time he's put off any appointments with his doctor.

Dialysis is no fun, but this friend will die much sooner if he doesn't go. Maybe he's ready to go and that's his choice. You say you don't believe it, then if you are so close to this friend, go with him to one of his doctor's appointments and ask the doctor yourself. Otherwise, just be a friend and respect his wishes.

This is total bull crap. IF HE DOESN'T GO TO DIALYSIS, HE WON'T EVEN LIVE 2 YEARS.
Dialysis WILL PROLONG his life. I take care of dialysis patients at work and they have been living for years.
Does he understand that dialysis cleans his blood because his kidneys and liver can't? That is the purpose of this proceedure.
Without it, he will become severely ill, septic probably. It is a long, slow, agonizing death. Believe me, I've seen it happen.
Try to talk him into being dialyzed. He's probably afraid, so look it up for him on the internet and educate him. The more he knows, maybe the better and more confident he will feel. See if one of the dialysis nurses can come to him and explain to him the proceedure.
Good luck.
