When it comes to intolerance by followers of a religions I think it was Christianity at the top, but then came Islam and broke the record world wide!
But as for a religion, its really confusing. Religions are created at a certain time, place, and circumstances. Some decide to do what the book says and assume its the same circumstances, and others decide to guess what would God want them to do, given that the current circumstances are different from the examples in the book.
Damn it,... who needs an old book anyway to tell us what's right and whats wrong!

Most religions believe the others are all false religon and I am sure most of them are right. Can't all be right.
But usually it doesn't go past the talking stage, and since no one can come back from the death to prove the others wrong we just have to take their word for it.
But right now we have in the news some religon that is going to extremes in helping God to destroy all others except their religion. They must think that their God is so unpowerful he needs the help of humans. I always wondered about that an idol cannot even remove a bird pooping on its head. So how can it help you:? If your religion is true don't you think your God is powerful enough to remove your enemies with out your help?
He split the red sea, caused an earth wide flood. If Joshua's day the hail stones killed more of the enemy than the soldiers.
God can and will in his own due time destroy the wicked and save the righteous. Without any help from humans.

Intolerant, but in a loving self-sacrificing way - Christianity. There's no getting around it that Jesus Christ claimed to be "the way, the truth, and the life", and that "no man can come to the Father except through..Christ". However, I'm not so sure that I would call it a religion (as with other attempts to reach God), but a relationship that is enjoyed when one realizes that God has reached down to restore man.

That's a pretty hard question to answer seeing as most of them seem to have been intolerant at some time in history. If you are speaking of today though I would have to say the exteme fundementalist of the Islamic religion.

Without naming names, they are the ones that [falsely] PREACH HATRED TO THOSE who DO NOT BELONG to their particular group.
And, sadly, there are QUITE A NUMBER of such INTOLERANT GROUPS out there WHO USE RELIGION and the Bible [or Koran] as their "shield and armor" for their personal onslaught to the rest of the world.
Peace be with you.

The uber-conservative branches of Christianity are extremely intolerant of others. Anyone who preaches "ONE WAY AND ONLY ONE WAY" is an intolerant demon.

Islam.
In its book, the Qu'ran, in its history and in its present teaching, it declares that ALL the people of the world MUST follow it's laws.....which are political as well as relgious. Failure to do so can result in punishment and even death.
True, there are some Muslims who do not agree with this teaching. But that does not change the fact that it IS their doctrine fromt he beginning and whenever they have had the power, they have practiced it.
