you're supposed to wear it closer to your nail (away) in front of the band, the story is the band is closer to your heart.

I wear mine behind it for one because I got it first but people say that you wear the wedding band first then the engagment ring to keep it closer to your heart. I don't look at it like that. I cherish my engagment ring 1st then my wedding ring because that's what seals the deal.
