It goes to the next cell when I hit enter. I need to stay in that same cell

To begin text on a new line in a cell with other information, press Alt + enter.

May I ask why you are typing paragraphs in Excel? Shouldn't you be in Word? Excel is normally used for spreadsheets, although I use it as a datafile myself.

You need to use the "wrap text" function. Under the home tab, locate Alignment, choose wrap text. Or, choose the cell, right click, Format Cells, Alignment, Wrap text. This makes the text "wrap" through box instead of going on continuously.

In any Microsoft office program when you hit enter it creates a new paragraph if you need an extra space just hit enter twice

To do a line break hold down Shift and then hit Enter...If that doesn't work look for "Line Break" under the "Insert" menu...
