If someone steals my car and I left my keys in it or left it running will my insurance pay it off or is it considered neglegence on my part? I do have full coverage.

Try not to forget that just because my car is running and unattended that it is not illegal to take it. I am not asking that, what I asked was will my insurance cover my car? Lets stick to answering the question. And for those of you pointing fingers... My car was stolen this morning and being 8 months pregnant I cannot afford to pay off 16,000 dollars for a car that I DONT have. I can think of a few things I would rather buy my son. Thanks anyways!

Also I don’t believe that I should have to get into a car that is 30 degrees or less just because some **** thinks its ok to jump in it and take off. I pay for the HEATER too and would like to utilize it.

Well, unless you already told the insurance company that your keys were in the car, I'm not sure how they would know.
If it is cold out I would think it rather common in the area for people to warm their cars up before they head to work. If you had started the car and locked the doors, intending to unlock it with the other set of keys, I believe that would constitute proper precautions given the situation.
If they deny your claim I'd read through the fine print of the policy to see if there are any clauses. I would also ask the insurance company if they cover a complete loss if the car is unlocked and stolen, but no keys were in the car.
I don't think negligence can come into play because it's a slippery slope if it does. If you got in a car accident because you were fiddling with the radio or checking yourself in the mirror, or your tires were so bald they blew out, would they deny your claim because you were not as attentive as you should have been, or hadn't performed proper maintenance on the car?
IMO it should be covered, even if they know the keys were in the car. Think about all the things in life you have insurance for and what wouldn't be covered if the insurance company didn't have to pay based on the insured negligence!

Your liability coverage will pay for any damages or injuries to innocent thirt parties. Your comp and collision coverage may very well not pay anything for the damage to your car. Read your policy. Mine is pretty specific; I'm NOT covered in that case.

Can be considered negligent. In many places it is also illegal to leave your car unattended while running or with the keys in it.

Want a new car, huh.
It's neglegence on your part. That's like saying, "well...it was running but only for a moment!" It doesn't matter. You let it running and were stupid enough to leave the keys in.
Full coverage means you're covered if it's stolen or wrecked, not if you're stupid enough to leave it unlocked with the keys in it.

Insurance, unfortunately, does cover stupidity in most cases. You are probably covered though you may be shopping for insurance at renewal time.

This is a no brainer, if you left the keys in the car you were negligent. However, if the insurance company doesn't know that........

It will be a judgement call by the insurance adjuster. It could go either way.
