If you sprinkle a little lavender oil on the area the cats go on this should keep them off.

Put tinfoil anywhere you don't want your cat to go or doublesided tape. Cats hate the way these things feel on thier feet. I know its a pain at first, but it doesnt take long for them to stop. and you will be able to keep them off furniture when your not home, its also a very inexpensive and effective.

Scold him when you find him on the furniture. If you want him to stay off a particular couch, keep him off all the couches, etc. It might lower confusion. If things persist, I know putting bubblewrap on it helps with a dog. I'm not sure about cats. If the cat is smart and goes on when there isn't bubblewrap, put a blanket over the bubblewrap.

There are tons of things people will tell you to do, but I guess you would first have to decide if you liked those certain pieces of furniture better than you like your cat.

i kept blankets over the areas of the couch where my cats would scratch and after a while they just stopped adn i could take them off. you can also try using a squirt bottle on a mist setting and spraying them when they go near it. otherwise you can by these double sided tape things at petstores that the cats paws get stuck to so they can't scratched or cut their nails if their indoor cats.
hope i can help:)

Get rid of the cat! No really, try positive reinforcement. But don't be suprised if they do it even when you're not there....ya gotta leave the house at some point

Be persistant with them. When they are on it, tell them no and put their nose in it. Spray them with water. When you are gone, put them in a room so they cant be around the furniture.

Or, just put a blanket on it.

Kick the animal outside. It would be happier anyways.
