My white american teacher told my class she has never been to Mexico. I took it upon myself to 30 miles to the Mexico boarder. I brought back for her a single grain of sand from Mexico. I gave it to her as a gift and she said " you walked all the way to Mexico for a grain of sand ?". I told her "NO my gift to you is not a single grain of sand it is the voyage to Mexico. I took the trip my self because you could not." she reported what I did to the pricipal and I got suspended for cutting class.

Sergio, it really doesn't sound like your teacher was being racist. I think she reported you for what was apparent - you cut class. It seems that this is still against school policy, so it has no racial bearing in the negative at all.

Also, a grain of sand from Mexico - is that really a voyage? If you wanted to show her Mexico, you could have shown her a photo album that hosts pictures defining that culture. I've never been to Mexico and lived in San Diego for more than 15 years. The closest I've been is watching episodes from The Travel Channel or Epicurious. Or if you are from Mexico yourself, you can regale her with stories of how you grew up. Giver her a voyage through the mind; there you'll find better illustrations than a grain of sand.

ok. there is no racism at all in this situation. You should of taken your voyage during your off-hours from school to go to Mexico. Would of been nice if you gave her a souvenir (i.e. post card or a sombrero)

It's not that your teacher and principal are racist. It's that you broke school rules and left class to get a grain of sand from Mexico.

What has your teachers race got to do with it, and how does your little story show racism in public schools? All this tells me is that you are trying to falsify a racism claim, and that the real racist is you!

Nice story.

Was there a reason you took this trip when you should have been in class?

No one gets to self-assign field trips.
