Ibuprofen is a NSAID (non steroidal anti inflammatory) drug. I probably would not take it long term without sometimes checking your KIDNEY function (not liver) as it can have some effect on your renal system. Also, if you get indigestion at all, you will need to speak to your doctor about either substituting the drug, or taking it in combination with a tablet to protect you stomach lining (such as Omeprazole or Ranitidine) You might like to speak to your doc anyway about these headaches.

For the most part YES, it is OK to take up to 3200 mg (16 200mg pills) a day, without causing damage to your kidneys. Another risk you pose when taking that much ibuprofen over an extended period of time is damage to your stomach, but trust me you would have to take that amount above over years and years for it to start effecting you that way, as long as you are healthy and you have no underlying medical conditions that deem you not to take ibuprofin you should be ok. you can take up to 800 mg at a time, and trust me I am a nurse and suffer with my own pain issues and I myself take alot of ibuprofin. Hope this is helpful, good luck.

I would say several things; on NO account listen to anyone saying that it is ok to take large doses of ibuprofen (however one a day is not a large dose). It is dangerous to take more than the recommended maximum dose of 2400 mg a day. Please seek medical advice about your medication and more importantly have you 'tension headaches' looked into.

Ibuprofin can damage your liver. I was taking it for several weeks and just happen to have some blood work done and my liver function was up. They rechecked it a couple of weeks later (I had stopped taking the ibuprofin) and it was back to normal. They told me that was what caused it.

No, as long as you take it with food on your stomach. If you continue to take Motrin on an empty stomach, it could eat a hole in the lining of your stomach and cause a bleeding ulcer.

I don't think it will any bad side effects if you did that. However, you should just go and see your doctor about this.
