Ford Explorer Door Panel Removal

I recently did a regulator and motor on my wife's 03 Sport Trac so this is fairly fresh in my mind. Anyway, remove the door handle bezel and window switches. You should find hidden screws behind them. Also remove the screws at the bottom of the door panel. Lift at the armrest to disengage the panel clips. Once they have released, pull panel straight out at the bottom and lower sides to disengage the door panel clips, bit not hard enough to remove the panel. A Plastis Wedge works great for this type of work. Then lift the panel upwards to get out. Remember to unhook all of the connectors. I hope this helps.

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac and the way you get mine off is to take out the two screws under the inside door handle. Then take off the screws around the outside of the door panel. After that, you just pretty much rip it off. Don't worry though it pops back on.

Open your door and look in the door jamb towards front of vehicle resting on the body opposite your interior floorboard area. you should see a small contacter that you can pressed in and out. That would be your trouble and can be accessed by removing the vinyl trim piece in the floor board. Pig tail the 2 wires on the connector and that will solve it. Also the contactor may be in the latching mechanism on the door jamb closer to where the vehicle identification label is placed in your door jamb.
