I know you're not supposed to use Visine when you have contacts in - but is there anything else that I can use with contacts that will relieve red, bloodshot eyes?

Edit: It's not actually the contacts that are causing the redness - it's allergies. I have taken allergy medicine but it's not helping the eyes. I get it even when I don't have the lenses in.

Actually, it depends on which Visine you use. Of the three I carry around, only one tells me to take them out, though I'd say the best bet is the one made for contacts. I know it's really meant to address the cause of the irritation, but I find that the Visine for contacts works just as well for any irritation I have.

But you should check the back of the bottle; don't take my word for it. All I know is that I've been doing it ever since I discovered the wonderfulness of Visine, and it's never done me any harm. Well, that and I read the back of the bottles. I suggest you do the same and make your own judgements, though.

Go to your local eye doctor. The same thing used to happen to me, and they told me to wipe my eyelids gently with a wet towel and it actually worked. You ought to ask them.
