I have the same problem with my hair. It's frizzy and thick and curly/wavy. I found that the best thing that works on my hair is a wet-to-dry straightener. I think it was the best thing ever invented. It works for all hair types. Believe me I have horrible hair and it leaves it looking gorgeous when I'm done. Plus for me it only takes 45 minutes and it drys it at the same time. But if you don't have the patience to straighten your hair every day why not try getting it relaxed. It costs about $50- $100 dollars but It works great and you'll only have to get it redone every couple months depending on how fast your hair grows.

I have naturally curly hair but prefer it to be straight. I get my hair done once a week at a salon and during the week I use the CHI products and iron to keep my hair done nice.
The Marc Anthony products available at Walgreen's work great also. A wet to dry iron is the best no matter what product you use.
One more tip...to keep ends from splitting use a leave in conditioner. To help repair them put the conditioner in your hair then wrap with a warm towel for at least half an hour.

If you REALLY can't stand your wavy hair, and a regular straightener isn't doing it for you, then you should go to Sally Hanson(Hansen..Henson...) stores. They are experts in the best of the best because they sponsor a lot of hair stylists. Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but at least it'll be cheaper than getting it straightened for like 6 months, in the long run.
I'm pretty certain it's that Sally place that has the straightener you're looking for. My friend has curly hair like you wouldn't believe, but she gets it pin straight and it's all because her mom is a hair stylist and has this phenomenal straightener. But they are costly.
To avoid damage, look into products that will help mend your hair, or ask your hairstylist. Seriously, they want you to be happy and feel good, they know what they're talking about. Find one who has been good to you and your hair and that you can trust.

First you need to get the right shampoo and conditioner.
Redken Smooth down line is the best I tried.
Second you need to apply a straightener (lotion) before drying.
I use Loreal professionnal
Then you need a good professional straighten iron in ceramic
(about 200$ but it worth it)
I had wavy hair too. With those, I now have perfectly straight hair and most important, my hair isn't damaged.

I would either:
A) Buy a really nice straightener that is proven to make the waviest hair straight
B) Learn to love your hair and just try different ways to style if and put it up to make it look better
C) Don't they have perms that can make your hair straight?
I don't like my hair too much either.....b/c it's a mix between straight and wavy so sometimes it looks TERRIBLE but I just learn to live with it and I put it up to make it look better.
:)

Why dont u try and work with ur waves, try a salt spray or scrunching with mousse or adding a few curls using curling tongs, mabye a few layers for a more wavy, sexy messy look? good luck....straighteners damage your hair badly anyway. xxx But if u want it straight and nothing is going to change you mind try blow drying it straight first with a round brush and a hairdryer witha thin nozzle then using ghd's or else getting it chemicly straightened.

There's a thing you can try called Japanese hair straightening. The procedure on average costs about $300, but is charged by hour. They permanently straighten hair until it grows out and it looks really silky and shiny.
