They're a ************ light Infantry Division that trains at Fort Drum in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. They are high altitude fighters who are the ideal troops to chase the Taliban in the mountains in Afghanistan. Every one of them is a hero.

The only special about the 10th is that they have a very distinguished lineage, Bob Dole served in the 10th in WWII.
If you look at a topographic map of the where the 10th is located and it is pretty much flat, nasty nowhere in upstate NY. Thats why it is so freaking windy there because there are no natural barriers to block or slow down the wind as it comes from Canada. Very few people in a functioning combat unit of a platoon or smaller with maybe the exception of some infantry units are Mountain Warfare qualified. Maybe two or four in most units, some maybe have one or two in others.
They have got that little scroll above their patch that saids Mountain on it, can we get a show of hands how many of them graduated from Mountain Warfare?
All the "legacy" army units have a very distinguished that is why they have not been deactivated.

Well until we asked the British to order their officers to keep quiet they upon the 10th arrival in the Middle East the second time were telling the press the 10 th was the worse trained soldiers they had ever seen. Supposedly a Mountain battalion had trained on flat land, did not know their equipment or how to interface with other units. I don't know if it were really true I know that many, many American and British senior officers took early retirement. What is odd is no one is still allowed to discuss the issue, what happened to free speech?

We are the best light infantry unit in the army! I have deployed with the 10th and everytime we roll into a town or country and the locals see that 10th MTN patch they $hit themselves. We don't just train constantly for real world real life combat situations, we do it in -30 degree weather. Noone does haji hunting like we do!

These guys are...top of the crop so to speak. Highly trained, very capable team and extremely good at their job. They go where only mountain goats can go and do the impossible on a daily basis which makes them in my mind...Mighty!
