When you ask the chinese restauarants around here, they say they don't have MSG in their food. I think they are lying!

MSG- Mono-sodium Glutamate is a salt substitute used in Chinese and Asian cuisine.Soy sauce is also used widely in Chinese cuisine- which has an extremely high salt content. Experts refer to the "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome" when describing the after effects of eating the food. Eg. dizziness, headache, sudden hunger, chest pains. The FDA is still debating whether or not MSG poses a dangerous health risk, but they will not deny that excessive MSG consumption is to blame for these symptoms. Perhaps we can blame the high salt content of soy sauce for dehydrating the body. You feel a need to eat again and/or drink some fluids after eating Chinese food. No one really knows why because there aren't any valid and adequate scientific studies done. Our guess is as good as the so-called "experts". I experience the same thing after a trip to the Chinese buffet. You think all that food would satisfy your appetite for the rest of day when a couple of hours later, you have a new appetite! Mind-boggling!
