I'm in 8th grade, and I don't understand the graduation credit system AT ALL!! How many credits do you need to graduate, and what does "prerequisite" mean? I want to take honors physics, but it requires previously :one year of algebra and one year of challenge science, but I'm taking pre-algebra this year- what should I do?

the number of credits you need to graduate depends on the state you live in...check with your school counselor

"prerequisite" means that you need to have taken another class or classes before you can take the one being described

if i were you, i'd go to the school counselor and ask for some advice because the requirements are very different from state to state and even between districts

You need a certain number of credits in specific categories to graduate. Each class is worth a certain number of credits.

A pre-requisite is a class that you are supposed to have already completed. It means you need to already know that material because they are not going to teach it again.

Push yourself by taking the most challenging classes you can each year. Put together a 4-year plan and discuss it with your school's guidance counselor or teacher.

Finish pre-algebra this year. Next year take algebra and challenge (general) science. The following year you can take honors physics.

In addition to checking to see what the graduation requirements are, also check the entrance requirements are for universities in your area. For example, here are the requirements for the University of California:

the number of credits you need depends on your school. It seems like you already know what a prerequisite is. It is a previous class you must have taken. In ninth grade try bio or honors bio. People normally don't take physics or honors physics until they are in eleventh grade. Normally you need to have taken or currently be taking algebra 2 to understand the concepts needed for physics. I would reccomend you take Algebra 1 and Bio or honors bio (as I said before ) for next year. In the tenth grade take geometry and chem or possibly honors chem. And in the eleventh grade you can take honors physics but if you really like bio or chem you may choose to take the ap courses which will postpone taking physics. You may want to take ap bio in tenth grade but since you are currently in pre algebra I wouldnt reccomend taking ap chem. Good Luck! I hope I helped.

ok so im a freshman in highschool. [9th grade] and i didnt get any of the credit thing at all before i came to highschool. but now i get it.

to answer your first question, you get credits by taking different classes. [it varies on diff classes]
and i dont know how many credits it takes to graduate.
every school is different.

and i dont know what that p word means lol

the only thing you can do to get a chance at that class is to get good grades in pre algebra..your teachers recommend you to diff classes based on how well you did and your work habits now.

its obvious you might not be able to get in the class your freshman year..but dont worry! keep trying and i'm sure you'll get that class one year in highschool!

p.s. go to www.dictionary.com to figure out what that word means

hope this helped!
