Because they don't want to let you out. You should have free will to leave.

The fact is,If one wants to ("Stop" being a Witness of Jehovah)
they never really truly were (one) to begin with.Being a witness of
the Sovereign, most high God is a life long decision and a dedication
to serve the Almighty God,Jehovah. Its a commitment and a way of
life. And once you learn the Truths of the Bible, and apply them in your daily life, nothing else can compare with that or replace it.Sure
there are ones that come into the truth and are then expelled from
the congregation for grievous sins aginst Jehovah God and the
congregation. However they can repent and show that they are
truly sorry for their trespasses, they then after a period of time,
can be taken back into the congregation. It isint easy, but it is
worth just about anything(including death)to attain everlasting life
on a transformed and parasidic earth.and like it states at Matthew
24:13,14,"But he that has endured to the end is the one that will
be saved.(14)and this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a WITNESS to all the
nations, and then the end will come."

When you make a dedication to God it is for life. Sounds like you are very distressed. Ask yourself why one would want anything else. What is the desire that is pulling you away from the truth. remember James 4:4: "Adulteresses, do YOU not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God. 5 Or does it seem to YOU that the scripture says to no purpose: “It is with a tendency to envy that the spirit which has taken up residence within us keeps longing”? 6 However, the undeserved kindness which he gives is greater. Hence it says: “God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.”

I just watched the most awesome film. It is called 'Young People Ask....What Will I Do With My Life? It was so inspiring!

I think you know the answer to your question.

Hebrews 6: 4: "For it is impossible as regards those who have once for all been enlightened, and who have tasted the heavenly free gift, and who have become partakers of holy spirit, 5 and who have tasted the fine word of God and powers of the coming system of things, 6 but who have fallen away, to revive them again to repentance, because they impale the Son of God afresh for themselves and expose him to public shame. "

You know yourself that it is very hard for us to imagine that someone just wouldn't want it any more because I believe that you know as well as I do that it is the truth, and even though it is hard at times, the rewards are worth the small sacrifices we may make in this system of things. You have been running the fine race, don't let it be in vain! There are so many brothers and sisters who care for you and, well, just don't give up. I really don't think you want to. I hope you find the answers that you are looking for!

This must have been explained to you at the time you approached the elders and asked to be baptized. You absolutely have the right to stop being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. If it's not for you, it's not for you... Jehovah gave each of us free will. There are avenues for those that have doubts about the truth or are feeling spiritually sick. You say (perhaps in the context of another question) that "prayer is out of the question" and seem uninterested in asking for spiritual help from within Jehovah's organization so it appears that you have made your decision to leave. I don't understand why and I may not agree with you but it is your choice.

The people you are concerned about (family members/friends) also have the right to exercise their own free will by continuing in their worship of Jehovah in the way they believe that he requires. We all have our own personal choices to make when it comes to worship and Jehovah dignifies us in his gift of free will. There is nothing dishonorable about it.

(2 Corinthians 6:14-15) For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness? 15 Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Belial?

Jehovah's Witnesses practice the Scriptural practice of disfellowshipping for unrepentance of such serious sins as fornication, drug abuse, stealing, and apostasy. Baptized Witnesses who join the military or publicly engage in worship with another religion are considered to have disassociated themselves from Jehovah's Witnesses.

Contrary to the misinformation of anti-Witnesses, it is quite possible to become inactive in the JW religion without becoming disfellowshipped. As long as one's lifestyle does not bring reproach upon the congregation, and as long as one does not advocate one's disagreements with the religion, the congregation has no interest in "investigating", exposing, and disfellowshipping an inactive former Jehovah's Witness.

For those who are disfellowshipped or disassociated, a primarly goal is to shock the person into recognizing the serious of their wrong so that they rejoin the congregation in pure worship. Since the primary bonds that are broken involve friendship and spiritual fellowship, it is well understood that family bonds remain intact. Parents, siblings, and grown children of disfellowshipped and disassociated ones sometimes choose to limit what they may feel is discouraging or "bad association" but that is a personal decision and is not required by their religion.

Former Witnesses who are disfellowshipped or disassociated are typically treated in accord with the Scriptural pattern explained in these Scriptures:

(1 Corinthians 5:11-13) Quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. ...Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.

(Titus 3:10) As for a man that promotes a sect, reject him after a first and a second admonition

(Romans 16:17) Now I exhort you, brothers, to keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.

(2 Thessalonians 3:6) Now we are giving you orders, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw from every brother walking disorderly and not according to the tradition you received from us.

(2 Thessalonians 3:14) But if anyone is not obedient to our word through this letter, keep this one marked, stop associating with him, that he may become ashamed.

(2 John 10) If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.

(Matthew 18:17) If he does not listen to them, speak to the congregation. If he does not listen even to the congregation, let him be to you just as a man of the nations

Becoming baptized as a Jehovah's Witnesses is not a trivial step. At a minimum, a student must demonstrate months of regular meeting attendance and public ministry, then must himself express the desire to be baptized. The candidate then spends hours answering hundreds of bible questions wherein he expresses both a clear understanding and personal conviction regarding Jehovah's Witness teachings in at least three separate interviews with three different elders. The candidate must vocally agree to be baptized in front of hundreds or thousands of eyewitnesses, and must be publicly immersed in water. This is not a momentary emotional decision by an unreasoning child. Dedication as a Witness required hard work and determination at the time.

I'm not sure what you mean by honorably?

The bible tells about many in Jesus' and Paul's day who left serving Christ.

Remember you aren't just rejecting people, but are rejecting Christ and Jehovah.

The bible is clear, there are two organizations,

God's or Satan's, you can not sit on the fence, cause that belongs to Satan.

I hope this helps
