What ever time you feel the most motivated and have the most energy to workout. But, try to avoid working out close to bed time. It can interfere with your sleep. Since you get up for school early, I'm assuming you go to bed some what early, so I would say to keep it before dinner.
If none of these times works best for you, try it in the morning before school. I start work at 7:30 AM, and work out for 1.5 hours before work (weight training and cardio). I set my alarm to get up early enough so I can work out, eat breakfast, shower and shave, and be to work on time. I do it this way not because someone told me it was the best time, but because it is the time of the day I have the most motivation to actually do it.

If I were you I would do the afternoon. Working out tends to give you energy, so you would be too energized if you did it after dinner...I know that is what happens with me- and I am up late. I usually workout mid morning....I too am not an early morning workout person. But sometimes I do workout in the afternoon- and that has always worked out great.

Everyone has their own opinions, some say morning so you burn calories all day. some say afternoon of evening. It does not really matter. when ever you can get it in. try different times and see what works out best for you. I like after work it keeps me from wanting to eat before dinner and it energizes me for the rest of the evening

Any time is the best time to work out. As long as you do it! I've worked out at night for years because it worked best for my schedule.
There are countless studies that say the time of day thing is a myth. The reason people tell you to do it in the morning is because then you get it done and you don't have time to make excuses not to do it.
Just like it doesn't matter what time of day you eat. A calorie is a calorie, no matter what time it's ingested. Exercise is the same. It doesn't matter what time a day a calorie is burned off. When it's burned off, it's burned off.

Whenever you can consistently exercise is the best time. After it becomes a regular habit then you can worry about what time of day. Ideally though, you want to exercise after a long period without eating. That is why exercising in the morning is so good for weight loss. Without food in your system, your body has to access its reserves. As I said though, whenever you are consistently able to workout, that's the best time to work out. Best of luck!

I once read that a person's body actually feels more energetic at these times. I'm not sure if this is mental due to the morning is right after you wake up, then lunch time, and right after work/before dinner.
6 - 8am
11 am to 1pm
4 pm to 6 pm
try this and see if it works for you.
i normally work out right after work at 6pm

There is no best time for best results, that is a misnomer. Doesn't matter when you work out, as long as you do.
