Eating raw eggs is a very very dangerous thing to do- it puts you at EXTREME risk for samonella poisoning, a very serious poisoning of the blood. There are many other ways to "bulk up" that are much safer.

Yes, chief among them being the possibility of salmonella poisoning. Eating raw eggs to bulk up (popularized by Rocky) is not a good idea at all.

Do you trust your egg farmer? If not, I'd be careful. Eggs can contain salmonella (among), which may cause severe problems.
My microbiology professor would certainly strongly advise against eating raw eggs because of that.
If you want to take up more calories, eat more: try to balance your diet with 55-65% carbohydrates, 15-30% fat and 10-15% protein

Don't listen to these idiotic pansies- I eat up to ten raw supermarket eggs a day, and I have NEVER contracted an infection or parasite of any sort. These people don't know SH%&, so totally disregard what they have to say. Just eat the whole egg- you need the fat and fat-soluble vitamins to properly digest the protein, otherwise it gets converted to sugar. Also, you need the biotin in the yolk to counteract the anti-biotin factor in the egg white. The yolk is the most nutrient dense part and will greatly help you utilize proteins for your muscles.

I used to do the same thing, i asked a nutritionist and she said it doesnt hurt you as long as you dont eat only raw eggs. I would eat 2-3 raw egg whites in the morning and scrambled or boiled 3 at night....you just have to break down the egg sometimes with heat to change it up on your body...anything in excess in your body is potentially harmful. boiled is the best way to do it. i have known guys who eat 12 or more a day.

Raw eggs can have salmonella in them. Cook them and you get the same protein benefit but with seasonings and the lowered or absent risk of salmonella.

Bulk up on raw eggs? How about eating healthy? Raw eggs can cause samonella poisoning. Not that many calories in eggs anyway.

well, yes, you could die if the eggs are 'too' raw from gluictycm, which is a disease contracted from eating raw eggs in abundance. Basically tiny worms will bore into your intestines and hatch hundreds of eggs until your insides get eaten away by hundreds of thousands of microscopic worms

You risk salmonella poisoning, which is a severe food poisoning that could make you very very sick or kill you. I think the incidence of salmonella in raw eggs is one in one hundred. Be careful!

When we were kids, our mother would make us a chocolate egg-nog by mixing a few raw eggs and Hershery's syrup with cold milk in a mixing bowl! She thought was good for us, and as far as I know, nobody ever got sick!
