If you consume more calories than your body uses as fuel, then the excess calories are stored as fat. If you consume fewer calories than your body uses as fuel, then your body makes up for the shortage of calories by converting stored fat into energy.
That's the bottom line in how food works. To lose weight, eat less and exercise more ... eat fewer calories and use more fuel.
To answer your specific question though, a glass of water with some sugar might contain less than 100 calories. The average person burns 1800 calories a day. So, yes, you would lose weight. In fact, you could eventually starve to death on 100 calories a day.

Yes you will lose weight but it's not a healthy way to do it. Once you start eating again, you will just gain all the weight back anyway. Plus, you can only survive on just water alone for so long. You're best bet is to eat healthy foods and exercise.

It is doubtful if you would be able to stick to such a plan due to hunger. However if u were to do this you would probably end up in the hospital with IV tubes in you.
The body needs food just like a car needs gasoline. It has to have the components in food, like fat, protein and starch to function. How far would your car go with sugar and water?
This is not a way to lose weight. Eating healthy is the way to go.

That is not a healthy way to lose weight. You need to eat. If you don't eat, you'll gain weight. Also, you'll be very sluggish and you'll want to sleep all of the time if you don't eat. Try a diet pill...or you could eat and then work out to burn off the calories. Also consider talking to your doctor if your weight is a serious health risk.

Yes you can but you could lose more weight if you eat healthy foods at least 6 times a day in small amounts. This will help your metabolism speed up and help you burn the fat. If you eat nutritious foods that don't have much fat then you'll lose weight. Good luck and don't starve yourself. You'll only end up hurting your major organs.

Yep. :] but cut out the something with sugar, if you do decide to drink something else, drink something low cal. with protein in it, but not sugar :]
don't believe the BS about dying cause your not eatting for 1 or 2 days, your body can live for a week or 2 with out food, liquid is all it needs to live. doing it to long CAN cause health risk though

Most likely, but you will not be able to keep it off- only healthy dieting combined with exercise will let you keep the weight off. And, if you attempt to lose a lot of weight this way, you will get sick and maybe die. Not to mention the fact that you will not be able to ignore the hunger pains for very long- it will be extremely miserable.

Diet and exercise. Anything else could end up damaging your body. Keep control of your calories, drink lots of water and start out small. If you're losing more than 6 pounds a week, you're dieting dangerously. Otherwise, you're losing vitamins and minerals.

That is called fasting. But no that is not good. You need to eat in moderation- that is the best way to lose weight- exercise and eating in moderation...picking low fat meals- and even if you eat something that is not low fat, eat half of the amount you would usually eat. That is how I lost all of my weight after my pregnancies- that and working out....moderation is the key!!

No, definately not. What you need to do is eat healthy foods with lots of protien, and exirsice a ton. Please don't just drink water, that would be really hard on your body. You wouldn't have any energy and it would be really hard to get through each day. Please, just take my advice. It works the best!
