I decided that I would do some serious summer reading for the first time in my life. It was just recently that I finish reading the Bible. I figured it would be a great book to start with. I just don't understand it. Can someone help me with this....

You mean to tell me that noah got 2 of every animal, built an arc and then after this massive storm he put every animal back according to where they need to be liek climate wise?

This Bible IS A JOKE! It's an embarassment to think that the things in the Bible are true. And if you do believe in the Bible, do you have to believe in it all? Or just some parts?

being a relgious text written at a time when people who followed the 'Christian faith' were persecuted as a result the Bible is full of a myriad of complex symbolism, Criptic word combinations etc. Not only this with all this factors still part of it a bunch of morons translated it in to English and replaced various words with words that suited their agenda so it became a further muddled mess, I have actually read some pretty good research papers that inferrred that the originals of the bible don't even mention the word virgin or immaculate conception these are later additions and/or manipulations of the tgext ,

I am not a Christain as such however I was brought up as an Anglican (Church of Eng.) There was a declartion made by the Arch-Bishop of Canterbury decades ago that said even the Anglican Church does not regard the entire bible as the word of God (if you can find a book called 1001 Ghosts the actual press release is in the preface aswell).

The Bible contains 68 books. Old testament writing dealt with the people living at that time for each book. If you are truly looking for understanding the Bible there is allot of info. Oneplace.com is a good start. Yes Noah got them on the ark possibly not as adults. Do realize how big the ark was? It was huge. Think about it does evolution have the answers? It's takes allot to believe in that and people do. Give it time.

Sounds like you already have your narrow mind made up! IS that a question or a statement?

and........
YES! the bible is 100% truth! If it wasn't then why is it still the #1 bestseller of all time?

Buddy! greater people than you! (kings, emperors and governments!) have tried to disrepute, change and destroy the bible... all to no avail! They are dead now and forgotten ... but the bible is still here! ha!

Besides, I don't believed you actually "READ" the bible... you're only using one story to try proove your point?... and you don't even have a point!

Try a bible study group. But then.... you're too dense to understand anything intelligent!

Dude you're a joke and an embarassment to mankind. seriously, you should take the time out to examine your miserable life and decide if you still want to continue in your misery... or be saved by the life changing truth that can only be found in... THE BIBLE!!!! 'nough said!

The bible is absolutely true, all of it.
Skeptics paint a picture of Noah going to countries remote from the Middle East to gather animals such as kangaroos and koalas from Australia, and kiwis from New Zealand. However, the Bible states that the animals came to Noah; he did not have to round them up (Genesis 6:20). God caused the animals to come to Noah.

We also do not know what the geography of the world was like before the flood. If there was only one continent at that time, then questions of getting animals from remote regions to the ark are not relevant.

"He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind."

*sigh* Yes, but the Bible isn't meant to be taken literally, you know. It's not saying that those things actually /happened/ I think it's saying that those are the type sof things that neede dto be done so that we could get where we are today... Which isn't sayign much.

The Bible is full of /lessons/ not /facts/.

"It is a book. A good book... But not the only book."

God must have had one f*cked up childhood/spontaneous generation, he's so twisted he makes an Irish Dancer's hair look as straight as a pin!

Oh! And hey, venom? What's so "intelligent" about blind faith? That seems to be the problem with this world, people's head are too far up their asses worrying about themselves and their "god" they forget that there are other living beings in this world.

Good lord I hate religion. Of course, I hate being called a bad person because I don't believe in anything even more.

I am a //good// person, I have morals, I am polite (when I have to be and you haven't pissed me off) and I'm tolerant (usually) but I don't believe in God. In fact, I think I'm a better person because I /don't/ believe in the "almighty creator".

Truth is often stanger than fiction. The fact that the Bible includes some very unlikely stories shows that it wasn't made up. If someone wanted to write a book that people would beleive, he wouldn't put such strange stories in it. People find deep meaning in the Bible's stories, that's why it's the most popular book in the world. It's not just another history book.

I also have read the bible to my dismay. I was horrified by the atrocities created by our supposed "god" I left the christian religion after reading the bible. Now I am searching for truths. The only thing I know for sure is their is a god and if I choose love/fellowship/empathy in all my actions here, then I will get to go home to him at the end of this life.

I think you need to consider a few point first.

Firstly, the Bible has withstood centuries of scrutiny. See the link below for validation of biblical authenticity.

Second, history (and its sister discipline, archeology) has shown the Bible to be accurate as to places, names, etc.

Thirdly, you cannot take supernatural events and equate them strictly to natural laws. That is the nature of miracles.

Fourthly, the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus is the validation for everything in the Bible. Until you can refute that, then the Bible stands as the truth, whether or not you accept or understand it.

People do not create TRUTH; they reach out to comprehend it. The Truth is, No sincere person when honestly evaluating the evidence can fail to accept that the Bible is God’s word.
For truth that is examined means to make comparisons, calmly and objectively weighing the facts and the arguments presented, and then being willing to pay the cost; For the truth will cost something. (See counseled at Proverbs 23:23)

Here is what I believe. The bible is totally true. From cover to cover. Every every word, map, every chart, every reference tool. All the way to the back where it says the genuine leather on the cover.

As for Noah, he was told to take 2 of every kind. Every species.

Consider dogs. Originally all dogs decended from 1 kind. Then through habitat and breeding we now have hundreds of breeds of dogs. Animals develop thick fur. Just as humans who are raised and live in colder climates are better able to tolerate them. No through evolution. Just through our bodies natural ability to adapt.

It is our belief that the animals bred and increased in number and as they migrated and continued to breed different traits emerged. Not evolved. Traits that were already part of their DNA, just ressesive.

As for whether or not you can just believe in parts of the bible. Here is the problem with that... Which parts? If the bible is the Word of God wholly inspired and we only believe part of it then are we are saying God lied about part of it or allowed parts to be corrupted. Then how can we believe any of it?

And if you believe in God. If you believe He is creator, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. Then is He not powerful enough to keep His word and keep His Word true?

Hope this helps. Thank you for your question.
