Music is forbidden because it misleads and distracts us from other things, and gets stuck in our heads, while we could be spending that time to read the Quran and so on. We can listen to "nasheeds" though, which is like islamic music. You should try and read what the guy wrote with the really long message lol. Its best to look straight from the source ie from the holy Quran.

Ever notice that the first 3 or 4 answers in R&S are always the smart-***, hateful answers from people who don't know the subject at hand?
For decency's sake, couples dancing is forbidden. I've never heard of music being forbidden, because there *is* Islamic chanting, which is musical, and very beautiful.
I don't know what's more beautiful, Islamic or Gregorian chanting.
Anywho, getting back to the subject at hand, Islam preserves the dignity of its people, so couples dancing is forbidden.

not all of them have the same idea about this .
in Islam music or other intertainments are not forbidden as long as they do not make people behave like animals.
islam's not against happiness en or entertainments .
Muhammad ( the prophet of muslims ) has a nice word :
there's nothin' better than making somebody smile .

Before Islam Arabs were living on music and dance and drinking and that culture is called the Backward culture Godless culture. Do you want the Muslim to go to Backward culture after God delivered them out of darkness.

That is at the core of the hate in Islam of the west,, Fundamental Islam does not want other views herd or allowed.
Christians believe that you cannot truly love God without Free Will.
People here convert to and from Islam in freedom, Christians allow this here. Why don't Muslims allow Conversion in their countries?? What do they have to hide or fear???

Depends on your country, in Iran, Christians are in hiding, in Saudi Arabia, it is illegal to carry a Bible. Conversion can cause you to lose your head, (literally) in Pakistan.
