In this day and age much of our food is pumped full of hormones to make the animals grow faster, therefore saving farmers money (especially in chickens. Turkey are fed little to no hormones though, so that's usually what my family eats). This isn't good for the consumer though because it forces puberty to start at much earlier ages. I have heard of girls as young as the age of 8 getting their first menstrual cycle, which is sad. So, it is possible that your daughter is beginning to experience that. Start planning how you're going to explain these new changes to her!

No not too young at all. Over the years women have been hitting puberty at a younger age over all. Some people say it's from the hormones in our milk and other foods like poultry and beef. Others say it is just an evolutionary thing. It is not uncommon to hear of girls even starting their cycles by this age and younger. Thats the way it used to be even a century ago or more when girls were married off at 12 years old.

Many young people are going through puberty much earlier in life. Some say it is caused by the growth hormones put into our food. I would love to say she is too young because I also have a 10 year old but sadly it is not too young anymore. Be thankful she is not 8.

well kids usually dont at that age but in some cases they do and especially because she's a girl. Girls tend to mature more faster than boys so i wudnt exactly say she's too young to hve hormones. But on the other hand mayb its sumthing at skool r watever that keeps botherin her and mayb she jus doesnt wanna talk about it and probably thats why certain things tend to set her off lately. But if she gets over it in a week or so then mayb it wasnt hormones but i wudnt rule it out jus yet bcuz of her age.

No, she's not too young. In fact, lots of girls start to develop around age 10, and their hormones start producing adult levels of estrogen. I remember when I was 10, that's when everything sort of started, puberty-wise. I think she's totally normal, but if you're worried, you should take her to the pediatrician and have him take a look at her to make sure she's developing on-track.

No, she is not too young. My daughter turned 10 in Sept. of 2002 and by Thanksgiving had started her period. She was very over emotional. Now, she is 14 and in the full throws of adolesence. She may live to see 15...we'll see.

First of all - she was born with hormones. Is she too young to be going through puberty? No. But the best place to ask is at her pediatrician's office. She needs to learn what it means when her body begins these changes.

We are born with hormones. Most girls I know started puberty at around 10 years of age and several started with their periods already at 10.

No not at all. I started my period when I turned 9 and so did a lot of my friends, and I had my first bra when I was 8. 10 is about the time when they're going through changes...that's totally normal.
