I think happiness is a mortal state. I don't know what form immortality takes, but I would guess that in any form, those souls are beyond happiness or sadness, pain or pleasure. They will be discovering states of being that most of us can't even concieve of. As bill shakespear puts it, they are exploring "The undiscovered country from whose bourn no traveler returns."

Good or bad doesn't really matter. It is a question of whether or not you have a personal relationship with Christ. If you do, then hopefully you will be "good" in that you will be following Christ and seeking to do His will. So can a bad person be a Christian? They can become a Christian and that will lead to a change of heart. When we die and are a child of God then yes, we will be happy beyond measure.

Dear Mar... even if there is no heaven, there is relief and rest in an ending of life. The lack of struggle, illness, and strife are to be welcomed. There need not be a heaven for passing to be acceptable. Clearly you need to believe that someone who was good and who has passed is o.k. Well, they are... there is no hell.

This is a very broad question. From a Christian perspective some people are happy and some are in torment. For me, and a whole multitude of people, believe is that there is only one way towards true, lasting eternal happiness. That way is through, and ONLY through, Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God.

A person is more than just a body. They also have a mind. Even when the body stops working, the mind continues to function. When a person who has died thinks back on their life and all the good things they have done, it makes them very happy.

Yes, honey, they are happy. Happier than you can imagine! I know they are in a place where guilt and sadness and anger do not manifest. Whether you believe in Heaven or not, you know they are not going through the hardships this life gives us all. They are in a better place!

Ecclesiastes 9:5,6:"For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun."

They cant be happy nor sad if there conscious of nothing.

I do believe there is something that happens to the 'soul' after death. I don't know what it is but I believe they are either happy or at least, unaware of unhappiness. They may no longer have human emotions as we know them so I don't believe they would be unhappy.

If you need it to be so, then believe it is so. There is no way of finding out. You must realize that.
