Methionine is a great transporter of some of the above mentioned amino acids. Iso-leucine, leucine and valine provide anti-catabolic measures, and give him energy, if he is protein depleted and in a catabolic state. Iron-does he have any health impairments, meds he takes or maladies that sap this energy, or nutrients mentioned, that can also lessen the amount of others? I can name so much more than many energizers, but to facilitate this in the best possible manner, I would need to know alot more about him- I do not know anything about him. Some of these are amino acids and have L's in front of them. Zinc < 50mgs a day heightens immune response-higher dosages can lower immune response. Sorta like vanadyl sulfate (a form of vanadium-good and bad) Sorta like Chromium picolinate (chromium in hex form will not be a good thing for life issues) The US Govt actually has the patent on Chromium picolinate (regulates insulin levels-trivia)Polyphenols and catchetins, found in green tea. Eating well and getting the vitamins and minerals you need is a natural way to get energy. If his diet is lacking, then I would suggest he takes some multivitamins. Also, exercise is a great way to boost energy levels. It's hard at first because you don't feel as if you have the energy to work out, but after a few weeks, he'll notice an increase in his energy level.

If the caffeine is in coffee or tea - then replace both with decaffinated tea and coffee. Working odd hours will always play havoc on your energy levels. Try getting him to take an energy boosting tonic - but remind him to take lots of vitamin c

I am hypersensitive to caffeine. I cannot have it either. For me, a red colored drink helps keep me awake. The red dye in the drink keeps some people awake. Try a strawberry or cherry soda.
