Growing up a Christian, I can tell you I never learned about any of those things you mention. It just was not part of my Christian education at all as a Methodist.
Even now, I'm a religious studies major, and that is the area of history I know the very least about. I think it's a shame, and I think we should learn about it, for sure.

I am convinced there is a conspiracy of cencorship. As Cardinal Newman said, "To be deep in history is to cease to be a Protestant."
Since none of the Early church Fathers held to any Protestant doctrines, they are largely ignored as "uninspired", therefore not worth reading. Can you imagine??
People prefer to believe the faddish lies about Constantine because it feels good. Truth takes a back seat. Constantine was never a priest or bishop, and had NO JURISDICTION OR SAY at the Council of Nicae. But people would rather believe the author of the Da Vinci Con rather than the people who were there.
But as information about the Early Church Fathers become available, and other reasons, many Protestant ministers and bible scholars have been converting to Catholicism, (by the hundreds) the one true faith founded by Jesus Christ.

I do understand the Origin of the Bible. There was a whole class devoted to that (called Biblical Origins) which I took in college. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies. By the way there is much more to it than what you have mentioned. To answer your question, Salvation is not dependent on a person's understanding of our history and origin.
P.S. Father K does not rock. He is quite mistaken. Tonks_op is the one who knows her stuff!

Christians believe on faith, they don't need to know something for a fact. You got a problem with that? As for the origen of the Bible that was started by Moses cause he figured after he became leader everybody would be asking him questions about how the world got started and stuff. So he wrote down all the stuff he could think of and that was the beginning of the Bible. Like for example Noah went down to Antarctica and got penguins for his ship, and we know that for a fact cause otherwise the penguins would not have survived the Great Flood which covered even the highest mountains. Same thing for Kangaroos.

Constantine started woshipped the sun and celebrated the Roman Saturnalia where false Christians followed and now celebrate X'mas. The Nicean Creed also changed one true God to three gods, the trinity. None of these are in the Bible. Constantine came almost 300 years later after Revelation was written. Now the traditions and belief of false Christians are another story.

I have advanced degrees in Christian Theology and minored in History. Would you kindly find me ANY document from the First Council of Nicaea (325 A.D.) that shows that any discussion of the Canon of Holy Scripture took place there? The reason for the calling of the First Council was to determine whether or not "there was a time when Christ was not" (the Arian Heresy) and to debate the inclusion of the words "homoousion" or "homoiousion" (same or similar substance) in the first Creed.
Please. Anyone? Scripture was not discussed. I don't know where this bastardized history began...and I don't care "if you read it on the "Internet" - it's just not true. The decrees of the Council are widely published and well-known.
Nothing about Scripture was discussed.

It's easier to cling blindly to a book if you don't know much about it. If you know much about it, you may start to question it. Personally, I think those Christians who know the history of the Bible, questioned themselves, and STILL believe in Christ have a much stronger faith than those who believe blindly.
Bright blessings!

Father K, they may not have decided on specific books of the bible, but after making decisions on how to conceive of Jesus, it surely affected future decisions on canon.

Ahhh,
But some of us do! You need to also understand where the information about all of those are coming from and how reliable it is. Not an easy study.
What faith are you?
Good Luck and God Bless!
