Just wait for the vet to tell you. When my Stimpy isn't right I phone the vet. Of course he wants to see her ANYWAY so I should save the phone call. No matter how good our advise is most of us are not vets. LUCK MAN!

He could have an eye infection, which would not be too horrible. My cat did a short while back. He got over it himself, just a lot of gunk covering up his eyes. He also could have hurt his eyes some how. The worst it could be is neurological. I would say take him in no matter what as soon as possible, and try not to worry too much about it right now. Feed and water him and make sure to get a few cuddles in. Good luck!

He could've gotten something in his eyes so it's irritating him. It just happened to my kitten a few weeks ago. He was playing and then a few minutes later, he seemed to be favoring his right eye and kept it shut. I was then worried even more because he was keeping both eyes shut sleeping a lot, but the vet said he was probably just resting his eyes because it takes more effort to keep one eye open and one closed.
I brought him to the vet the next day and turns out he had probably been scratched in his cornea by my other kitten when they were playing, which is why his eye was staying shut. Good thing we got there in time because it could've gotten infected. So if he's got both eyes closed, I would assume something is definitely bothering his eye, whether it has something in it or he cut it.
Good luck! =)

Its more than likely one of two things. He either scratched his eye and its very sensitive or sometimes animals will develop conjunctivitist (pink eye to us humans), which is a bacterial virus. You can usually tell if it is an infection from the yellow/greenish discharge from their eye. Not to worry though, it is not life threatening (but can be quite painfull) and is usually taken care of by an ointment or eye drops from your vet.

I looked at all your other questions about cats. I would suggest that you take this cat to the vet like you said you are going to do. While you are there, ask the vet if he knows a good book about cats that you could get to read. You seem to need to know a lot about cats and that would be the best way to learn.

Are both eyes closed? Maybe he has something in them, could have scratched the cornea. Closed or squinting eyes indicates pain. Is there any watering or discharge coming out of them? I would think it unusual for both eyes to be closed.
