why do people feel sorry for people with mental illness???

because deep inside we are glad that we ourselves or our loved ones are not struck with a mental illness, you should not feel sorry for them --- just understand what their illness is and do your best to make them fit into society,

I don't think people pity/feel sorry for them as much as they try to be accommodating and understanding of their differences. For example, I might be more patient with somebody who has a mental illness because they are not on the same level...

why wouldn't you feel sorry for anyone dealing with any challenging issues?

metal illness can cause many people a lot of pain and sadness and i feel sorry that life can be hard at times.

i feel sorry when people have a physical illness, are grieving a loss, have finiancial problems, lose a job, etc.

it is called compassion.
