Dear chuck,
The entire biblical account of the event is absolutely true. One thing that you may not know is that there were actually 4 cities: Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zaboam. The number 4 means universality. Recall also that God only saved Lot and his two daughters out of this inferno. The point being is that only a "remnant" shall be delivered from damnation. Perhaps you'll want to begin to read the Bible and beg God to have mercy on you.

God ordered both cities destroyed. He didn't like their nasty games with men and boys, unless I'm mistaken. I'll tell you something else I heard just recently: God is totally disgusted with the whole human race, cause humans masturbate. When God found out about that he just about called the whole thing off right then and there. Back in Bible days God thought he had someone he could rely on, namely, Moses; only to find out later that Moses was a queer.
God is so disgusted and sickened by the human race, that's why he left and there have been no major feats like God used to do in the Bible. God has basically packed up and packed off and said, in effect "You're on your own, perverts!"

Well, the Bible account would disagree with you.
Ge 19:24
Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven,

Maybe. Those 2 cities are now covered up by the Dead Sea, so why not?? Nobody can go down there.

Genesis 19:12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
Genesis 19:13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.
Ezekiel 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

READ THE BOOK, "THE WAR OF GODS AND MEN" BY THE
ZACHARIA SITCHIN. IT TELLS A DIFFERENT STORY FROM
THE BIBLE PERTAINING TO THAT EVENT IN THE PAST.
IT'S INTERESTING READING.
