God have enjoined on man/woman to be good to his/her parents? Are you?

Question

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

And We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents - his mother bears him in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning takes two years - and said, '
Give thanks to Me and thy parents. Unto Me is the final return;
And worship God and associate naught with Him, and show kindness to parents, and to kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and to the neighbour who is a kinsman, and the neighbour who is a stranger, and the companion by your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom your right hands possess. Surely, Allah loves not the arrogant and the boastful
And We have enjoined on man to be good to his parents. His mother bears him with pain, and brings him forth with pain, and the bearing of him and his weaning takes thirty months till, when he attains his full maturity and reaches the age of forty years, he says, 'My Lord, grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which thou hast bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and I may do such righteous deeds as may please Thee. And establish righteousness among my progeny for me. I do turn to thee; and, truly, I am of those who are obedient to thee.'
Thy Lord has commanded that ye worship none but Him, and that ye show kindness to parents. If one or both of them attain old age with thee, never say to them as much as ugh nor reproach them, but always address them with kindly speech.

HOLY QURAN

And We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents; but if they contend with thee to make thee associate that with ME of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto ME is your return, and I shall inform you of what you did

I don't believe in any god. I also am of the opinion that my father is a self-righteous, arrogant bastard. He can have my respect when he damn well earns it.

My mother, on the other hand, is a saint. She can have anything she wants from me.

I try to be good to my parents, but I could be better. I need to stop being so selfish and help out around the house more. Sometimes I get so bogged down with other things, I think I don't have time. Thanks for the reminder.

i try so hard to be good. but i dont think im that good. may allah help us obey our parents and treat them well. may he guide us all to the straight path(seeratul mustakeem). inshallah. take care.
