With all of the conflict and controversy in the world today, you cannot think of an issue to debate? omg...

Best to pick something topical at school or in your community that you actually care about (so you have somrthing to say) and your teachers can relate (even if they don't care). e.g., argue that the school should allow for flexible off campus policies, or should allow food alternatives. You could also look at something in your community (e.g. traffic patterns need to change at a bad intersection).

A bit beyond an argumentative paper, is one that exhorts others to take action. You could write (and send in to the school newspapaer) a paper that specifically call on your classmates to take part in a local event in support of a charity or political event.

Heck, call for the students to demand a change to the school policies and suggest a course of action such as non-violent protest. That ought to get their attention.

That way if the protest occurs you can always say the paper/article was an A paper because it served its purpose.

On your answer page of yahoo, go the upper left hand corner where you see Search web.Type in your Question (Best English Paper Topic?) and hit web search with your mouse. It will take you to pages where you can pick your topic and will suggest anything you need to know to write your english topic. Best of luck.

Start with the types of things that interest you. Are you in to animal rights or women's issues? If so, write a paper supporting a side and argue your side.

Do you like to cook, watch movies, listen to music. Perhaps a topic such as: Why men can't cook, Why women are better cooks, Why the MP3 player is targeted to pre-teens or why it decrease academic performance, or Why talentless artists with high sexual exposure are marketed to young kids, etc.

Anyway, start with what you are interested in, pick a "side" and argue!

Find a topic that interests you. Think about the book you read this year/semester that interested you the most and start from there. A paper on a topic that you're passionate about it always more interesting to read.

the best way to come up with a topic such as this is to ask yourself what controversial issues you feel strongly about. Pick a topic on which you have strong views, then research the antithesis of your opinion. It is always best to write about what you know, especially when in doubt!

Good luck :)

Check out http://www.ClassTopic.com They have some great topics that I've used in the past. Each topic has three good sources to get you started on the research, too.

Classic topics: Religion, politics, right, left, center, abortion, Iraq, Iran, immigration, constitutional amendments, border security. Who are the real American Patriots here? Who do you REALLY trust in authority these days? Are teens getting too much information too fast? Who are their Real Heroes? Can racism ever be eliminated in America? Divorce. Teen life issues. Are we placing too much emphasis on school athletics to the detriment of academics?

Figure out a belief you feel stongly about. Maybe you are very for/ against abortion, the death penalty or the war in Iraq.

Maybe you want to ague for or against calling Christimas vacation "Christmas vacation" and not "winter break."

Or maybe you think Democracy isn't the best form of government for America, so maybe we should change it to somthing else. Maybe you have a particular stand on all the imigration issues we've been experiencing.

I donno, there are countless things to argue about, religion and politics offer huge debates. But maybe you'd like to argue on the reasons pot should or shouldn't be legalized, or gay mirrage rights etc.

I hope this helps somewhat!
