5 month old male, nuetered kitty. Got his 2nd distemper and the rabies vaccine four days ago- no side affects. Yesterday gave him frontline. Last night (about 12 hours after my putting frontline on him) he is vomitting clear, frothy liquid. Im trying to figure out if he 1. ate something 2. somehow licked the frontline even though I placed it well 3. is having a late reaction from one of the vaccinations or 4. is having an internal reaction to the frontline.
Kitty also had tapeworms and was given an injection 4 days ago to get rid of them. Could this be from that? I am unsure because he had no symptoms until last night. Thanks.

cat just vomitted again, this time a LOT of liquid. He seems unusually thirsty as well. I am afraid he may be getting dehydrated

To the person who called me an idiot-- youre a real jerk. We did take him to the vet-- they barely looked at him and said he was fine- we were so upset and obviously disagreeing so we took him to a 2nd vet. He has had xrays with nothing showing and is undergoing a barium series and bloodwork. The first vet FYI was Banfield. Stay AWAY from them if you care at all about your pet. The 2nd vet says that there is no way this is frontline. Sorry I didn't mention about the vet before. I will try to forgive your comments with the good faith belief that you had a bad day or just the wrong idea about our care for our pet.

maybe it isn't one thing you did. It sounds like he got an awful lot of stuff in a short period of time. If you put the Frontline where he can't lick it, it isn't the Frontline. That stuff doesn't absorb through the skin, it sits on the skin.
Vaccinations and worming can have side effects. I would ask your vet.

If he didn't lick the Frontline then it isn't the Frontline. Vaccinations can make a cat sick because they give so many at one time. Sometimes worming can make a cat sick. It is a common side effect of some wormers. Call you vet and see what he says. He will probably tell you to give the cat a day or so and see what happens. As long as he keeps eating and drinking, it is not an emergency, unless he vomits blood or something like that.

It could just be a fluke and he has a hairball he is trying to pass, but given the recent round of injections and topical treatments, I would call your vet immediately. I have had 3 cats get sick from their vaccinations and I refuse to do it ever again. I keep my cats indoors and I hire a pet sitter instead of kenneling them to keep them healthy. I've heard too many horror stories about cats developing tumors at the site of their rabies injection and I've experienced my cats getting the illnesses that the vaccinations are supposed to prevent! Obviously if your cat goes outside, he'll need all those vaccines, but the best thing for your kitty is truly to be kept inside where he will be safe, warm and healthy. In the meantime, call your vet immediately for some professional advice.

My guess would be he licked the frontline. That's what happens to my cats everytime I put it on. Until it completely soaks in or the cat forgets it's there then they will continue to lick it. I would give it another day or two (that's usually how long it takes for my cats) and then if it's still happening then talk to your vet. But I wouldn't worry too much right now.

my cat, same age, did that about 3 weeks ago after getting all of his shots from week before and was neutered that same day. I think it's just too much at one time. He's fine now, I'd wait a day or two and if he's still vomiting or not eating take him to the vet.

My cat started this a while ago. It could be the beginning of liver problems. The frothy liquid could be bile. Go to your vet. They may change the food your cat is eating. My cat was 17, so she had a host of other problems as well.

you may want to call and speak with your vet. I notice that when my cat goes outside and eats grass, that he comes back in to vomit it up, then I get grass and the frothy liquid.
(i dont let him outside, he "escapes" when my boyfriend is home)
It could be a reaction to the frontline though...ask your vet.

your cat has licked the front line ,and cant stand the taste in it's mouth, keep an eye on it, if this gets worse take it to the vet for poisoning, but that is the reaction they have when they get that in their mouth

if it is clear there is no food on his belly. try giving him some tuna or canned cat food and see if his belly settles. If that doesn't work call the vet.
