I guess it depends on who dumped who to start.

It's not cheating if you were broken up.

Like I always say...honesty. That's the only way to turn this around. Tell him what your telling us.

Just because you think you deserve another chance doesn't mean you are entitled to one. You hurt him very badly, and should have realized what you know now before you cheated, not after. How is he supposed to trust you with his heart again? You can try having a friendship with him if he will be friends and then he will see that you have changed, but if he's not interested, leave him alone. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

I cheated on the love of my life and lost him. He said he could never trust me again... and I understood that and let him go. That's life, honey, hopefully you have learned your lesson and will never have to go through this again. You don't "need" anyone in your life, if you think you do it's only because you're trying to fill some part of yourself that's missing. Find the missing parts within yourself, forgive yourself for cheating, be a better person and sooner or later you will find love again.

Why did you cheat to begin with? I have my doubts that people change. You did it once, how are you gonna assure him that you wouldn't do it again? There's a saying out there and it goes like this... "It takes a hundred attaboys to make up for that 1 f@*# up." So you got your work cut out for you. But good luck. Treat him like a king if you want to salvage it.
