When you are truly doing God's will, there will always be some type of positive outcome - we just don't see everything - the chain of events set in motion, etc.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Corinthians I 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
Corinthians I 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
