any diet below 1000 calories a day for the average adult would be risky if not dangerous.

This is really dangerous. It will work, but it also could wind you up in the hospital. Actually thinking about it it probably wouldn't work because it's yo yo dieting. But only 200, 400, 600 or 800 cals a day is very bad for you. Why can't you exercise and limit the food you eat so that you still eat healthy? Fasting is not the answer. Doing this is going to screw up your body.

I have NEVER heard of this diet before! Not only does it sound awful, it's completely dangerous for your body!

In order to develop a balanced and efficiently nurtured body, consistency is PARAMOUNT! A steady diet... steady consumption of calories... steady amount of exercise are what's NECESSARY for a fit and healthy body. There is no way consuming less than 1000 calories a day can be healthy for you.

This sounds like a "yo-yo" diet which rev ups then decreases your body's ability to absorb and use the nutrition properly. Don't do this diet, whatever you do... this irks every fiber of my being!

If you are looking to lose weight, consume 200-300 calories less than your average amount. (ie, eat 1700-1800 calories a day instead of 2000) This will give you a completely healthy weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week.

Your body requires something like 1200 calories for basic daily functions--breathing, general walking, digestion, heart operation, etc. If you are that little food, you'd really be hurting yourself.

Think about it, a fat free yogurt has about 100 calories. That 1 cup of yogurt is half your day's allowance? How are you going to get in all of your nutrients?

I bet your hair would fall out and you'd lose muscle mass doing that.

You would lose a lot of weight on this diet because it's very low calorie. It wouldn't be good for you though, you'd probably feel quite ill. Also you would regain the weight really quickly.I wouldn't do it.
