I have read that if you follow a very consisten sleep schedule (i.e., always going to sleep and waking up at the exact same time every day), you will have better sleep and feel better throughout the day. Is this true? Do you have a consistent sleep schedule?

I am a parent; if I had the chance at a consistent sleep schedule, I would take it. However, because I am "on call" 24/7/365(366), I have to be ready to be awake for emergencies and therefore don't get consistent sleep.

I know by experience that I feel tired and irritable with an inconsistent sleep schedule and am looking forward to the point when my kids are out of the house so I can try the consistent sleep schedule thing out.

I used to, and it was wonderful. I did feel a great deal better than I do now, and I hope to return to that schedule as soon as my finals are through. Professors always put the hard stuff toward the end, don't they?

So yes. Very true, and I wish I could get back to it sooner.

No. I sleep when I can get to bed. Sometimes 10.00pm, often later. We get up at 5.30 six days a week to go to work. My wife naps when she can after getting home from work. No regular sleep patterns for us.
Some nights, I suffer from back ache and sore wrists - carpel tunnel syndrome. That also keeps me awake, or wakes me several times during the night.
