I had a baby almost 7 weeks ago. Friday I went to the doctor and started the Nuva Ring. So I was wondering how long does it take before it becomes effective?

I did read the instruction booklet but since I have not had a period yet because I just had a baby I didn't know if it would be diff.

It depends if you were on birth control prior to going on Nuva Ring. If you were, which you obviously weren't because you just had a baby, then it is effective immediately, assuming you insert the ring on the day when you would start your next pack of pills if you continued staying on the pills.
If you weren't on another form of birth control, it is advised to use another form (ie. condoms) for seven days.
Also, it may take you a while to get your period after having a baby. It took me 84 days. Good luck!

It's effective right away but just to be on the safe side i'd use another form for at least 24 hours!
