Human Sacrifice was practiced widely. The Catholic Church and Luthern Churches took up a stand of non-involvement in WWII, something that Dietrich Bonehoffer, who was a Lutheran minister and was caught and later murdered for attempting to assinate Hitler, fought against. Early Puritan and Calvinist groups were the reason for the Salem Witch Trials in Salem, Mass.

Of course there's always the Jihad, Islamic Fundamentalists, the KKK, the Isreal-Palistine conflict, the Crusades, the colonization and forced conversion of numerous indiginous peoples by various religions etc...

Any conflict at any point in time probably has something, if not prevailing than at least in an undercurrent, to do with religion. And religion always takes sides, unless it's WWII and a clear right and wrong can be easily seen.

A 10-15 minute presentation? This is a topic that could cover years... I take it your in High School and most of the violence is too graphic to present in that forum.

Stick with the burning of "witches," stonings, and aboriginal theistic cannibalism... it's about as light as the subject can get.

Good luck! *smile*

15 minutes is a bit short :-)

Get the notes of Benedict for his presentation in Ratisbon , it carried quite a punch it seems.

They are available online in various languages on hte vatican's web site.

One reason for the killing in Christianity was to stop idol worship. This is so it wouldn't be around when the Jews possessed the land.
