Definitely intimacy issues. It also sounds like this guy has very little experience and was just trying it out. I would guess that this is a pretty young guy. Don't worry, there will be many more.

Maybe he did not want to hurt you upfront. It's much easier to start a relationship then to end it, just like the difference between making a child, and being a parent.

If his friend did it you need to go to him and find out directly from him what he wants. dont get emotional untill you find out for sure. this "friend" might want you two separated for whatever reason.
