I don't drink coffee or eat 3 hours before sleeping time. I just read a bit and in morning I can never wake up when the alarm clock is ringing. During last weekend I had slept more than 34 h! I can't work or even study. I drink more then 3 liter coffee a day, but I am still tired. When I went to GP he told me he doesn't consider it as a problem. But it is a problem for me.

Yeah, I see most people answered the same way I would. You are getting too much sleep. It can make you just as tired as not getting enough. Do you actually stay asleep for the entire time, or do you find yourself waking up and going back to sleep?

The reason I ask is because no two people are the same. You need to figure out how much sleep you need. Some people do well with 5 hours, while others need as much as 8-9 hours. But if you're waking up tired, then 11 hours is totally too much. And you're also messing with your body's natural bio-rhythm.

If you do find that you're waking up and then going back to sleep, ask yourself how you feel when you wake up the first time. If you feel energized, but just not ready to get up, this is when you need to get up. Note how many hours there are between going to bed and waking up when you feeling energized. This is the number of hours your body needs. Once you figure this out, try to stick to it. You'll feel better and your body will love you for it.

If it is a problem for you then seek another dcotor. You should get no more then 8 hours a sleep a day or you will feel tired. Diabetes, thyriod disorders, depression, stress, sleep apea and SAD can effect you feeling so tired I know! I was so tired and emotional and had blood work done , I have hypothyroidism and anxeity disorder. I have been on meds for 45 days now and I am feeling better. My doctor says it may take up to 90 days to feel like a teenager again! That is just what was wrong with me as I was sleeping more then 10 hours some days and feeling so tired! My mom has diabetes and she still sleeps alot and feels like slug! walk about 30 minutes a day for 4-5 days a week and a healthy diet helps and drink 8-8ozs. of water daily and 8 oz. of 2%milk.

Its time to get a new GP. To sleep that long and still be tired is not normal. If it is a problem for you, then it is a problem that needs to be treated. You could be depressed, but your GP needs to make sure you don't have any physiological problems that could be causing this. An under active thyroid is a possibility.

Seriously, get a new GP and find a solution. That much caffeine is not helping you either. Try 2 things, reduce the caffeine you ingest and read up on sleep hygiene. Do a google search on sleep hygiene, that will be a good place to start.

Exercise, eat right, and get about 7-9 hours of sleep per night. And cut back on caffeine. You don't have to be perfect--if you don't exercise at all, just try getting up and moving for at least 20 minutes during the day. You might try yoga; it's pretty much good for everything. Maybe seek a second opinion from another doctor. There are also sleep clinics at some universities (usually within the psych department).

You are sleeping way too much. A healthy woman should sleep 7-10 hrs/night. You need to cut down the coffee in the day, it might give you a temporary energy boost but that much stresses your liver which makes you sleepy eventually. Make sure you are eating well - lots of fruit and veg, wholegrain carbs, lean meat, nuts, lentil and beans and pulses. Cut out (or down ) on sh*t - fast food, fizzy drinks, processed food, ready meals etc.
Exercise boosts energy levels so if nothing else, walk for 30mins a day.

Best wishes.

you probably are getting too much sleep. makes you tired. try going to bed around 10 and getting up at 6. train yourself to do this you will feel so much better. takes about a week for your body to really train, but as time goes along, it will adjust and even wake up on its own without an alarm. also, you really should cut back on the coffee, it could be a big part of your problem. probably after being so hyped up on caffeine all day, you body just crashes,a nd has trouble getting up. but be forewarned, if you cut out the caffeine, your body will have major withdrawal symptoms, considering how much it is used to getting, we are talking major headaches, just endure, and you will be so much better for it. by the way, you are supposed to drink 2 glasses of water to every one cup of coffee to replenish the water you pee off as caffeine is a diuretic

I actually had a horrible time sleeping and could stay abed for a day and still be exhausted. I was depressed and irritable and frustrated and weepy, unable to function.

It turns out that my hearing was so sensitive, noises were pulling me out of the necessary deep sleep cycle humans require to have real restful sleep. I have been using foam ear plugs for two days, and I've gotten restful sleep for both nights. I have a friend who requires ear plugs AND a sleeping mask to keep the ambient light that comes in through her windows out completely.

Try a few non-medication solutions to get undistracted sleep and consider a new GP who sees this is a real problem -- because it is. If you don't end up getting enough sleep, you'll end up hallucinating and dangerous to yourself and others without meaning to be as accidents around you because of your inability to concentrate increase.

Sleeping too much actually can make you feel tired. Though it does change some from person to person, typically, 8 hours is how much sleep most people should get. that said make sure that you are active during the day. laying around all day is unhealthy and can make you feel generally more tired and have less energy. i should know. thats wat iv been doing. need to get a job so i can lose weight

You are tired because you are sleeping too much,,lol. 7-9 hours should be plenty.I think that getting enough rest is important to be healthy but I also think that TOO much of anything is not good for you.You may want to take vitamins such as one-a -day with iron.

That happens to me too. 8 hours should be sufficient but when you over sleep being tired is a side effect
