Need some ideas for lunch. Since I've started working again I've been eatting out a lot more and have gained some weight. What are some good things to eat while I'm out? Besides salads. Quick low fat and low calorie meal recipes to do at home would also be helpful.

I had the same problem except with school
What i would take is :
- A Sub sandwhich with a bit of low fat mayo and ham/turkey/whatever you want, some lettuce and cheese or whatever, Milk and a banana or apple or some fruit or veggie

- A tosted bagel with low-fat cream cheese, yougart, milk or juice and some fruit or veggie

- A peanut butter and banana sandwhich on whole wheat bread withmilk or juice and some fruit or veggie.

Also if you want, if you can drink some green tea while your at your office it may taste a bit bad but it helps boost your metabolism and helps you lose that extra weight you gained.

Hope it helps !

Restaurants in general are guilty of flavor first and health second. Good taste is what gets people and keeps 'em coming back. Half portions are a very good idea, and stick to dishes that are not served with a heavy sauce or cream. You will also want to avoid pretty much any non-fat free salad dressing. They can tack on as many calories as, say, a Whopper Junior without cheese. An easy thing to do is harken back to your grade school days and make yourself a sandwich, package it with some fruit and take it with you. Or, use a tortilla and make a warp. You can use chicken, tuna, vegetables, lean beef, lean lunch meats, cheese, etc. Avoid mayo and butter, but mustard typically does not add many calories. Non-fat yogurt is also a great addition to a low-calorie lunch. . . just open and eat! Familiarize yourself with portion sizes, construct your meals accordingly. Understand that portion control at restaurants will go a long way toward limiting the damages from food prepared with less than healthy ingredients. If you want to go all out, you may wish to familiarize yourself with the caloric density of many common foods and stick to those on the low end (below 2.5, preferably 1.5 or below as an average of all consumed if you are trying to eat light).

Campbell's country vegetable with beef is a good meal. If you live in the Midwest like I do, it probably will warm your body up on a cold day. At the same time, it's good for you!

A couple other ideas: tuna salad, fish, and grilled chicken.
