I say no. Ex's are ex's for a reason. If he broke up with you, its cause he doesnt want to be with you. Leave him be and let him have his fun on his birthday. Dont take him back either cause who knows what he got from some other girl.

If you do decide to call with birthday greetings (and I would suggest that you not do anything more than call--no gifts, cards, etc.) be sure to keep it short, positive and upbeat. It's possible that he could become a good friend, but it's rather soon after the breakup to expect too much warmth. Anticipate that it may be awkward, but if you feel like doing so I don't see a problem with a phone call on his b-day.

If you care about him and want to be his friend sure. There is nothing wrong with calling and wishing a Happy B-day.

However, if he said he wants to be friends but you haven't spoken to him... Maybe he wasn't being honest about that part. Maybe that was just a pleasant way of dumping you.

Only call him if you believe that you can handle it. You could wind up just being someone that he talks to occasionally, etc. If this hurts too much, you may need to cut ties.

Good luck.

No, I dont think you should call him. Be informal since this is an ex, send him a text telling him happy birthday.
